HCG Test

There are two types of HCG screening tests, The 1st can exactly measure the amount of HCG in the body, and the other can give you a result that the HCG present in the body or not.

HCG can also be produced abnormally by some tumors as (germ cell tumors). HCG levels can be High and indicates a molar pregnancy, a miscalculated date of conception, or a multiple pregnancy. And can be low Low and indicates an ectopic pregnancy, a miscalculated date of conception, or a possible miscarriage.

HCG blood tests
The HCG level in the blood can be used as a screening for birth defects and done between 15 and 20 weeks by 2 types of screening tests, The 1st is the triple screen checks alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), and a type of estrogen (unconjugated estriol, or uE3). And the 2nd is the quad screen checks these substances and the level of the hormone inhibin A. The levels of these 4 substances togather with the woman's age and some other factors help the doctor to estimate if the baby will have some problems or birth defects!
